Jakob started his education as a classical pianist at The New Music School in Reykjavík, Iceland. After spending some time in rock and metal bands playing guitar, bass and drums, Jakob discovered his love for jazz and improvised music in general. He then spent 3 years studying jazz at The Musicians ́ Union School in Reykjavík under the tutelage of Vignir Stefánsson, Agnar Már Magnússon and Eyþór Gunnarsson, alongside working as a freelance musician in Reykjavík. Jakob also has a B.Sc. degree in physics from the University of Iceland.
Jakob has lived and worked in many different countries and in many different fields. He lived and worked as a freelancer in Berlin, Dubai, Reykjavík and Prague. He has worked in music production with artists from the U.A.E, Palestine, Nigeria, Vietnam, Iceland, Slovakia, and the United States. He has released 3 albums, in different genres including jazz, hip hop and holiday music.
He has performed at the Reykjavík Jazz Festival, The Icelandic Embassy in Berlin, the Chinese Embassy in Iceland, and at the Mladí Ladí Jazz festival in Prague, among many others. Jakob currently works as a freelance musician and producer in Prague, and will forever remain a student of music and improvisation.
